Election Coverage

A friend of mine had a good point...this is the first true election in the social web. I'm flipping my tv back and forth between CNN, CNBC, and ABC...with 4 browser windows open (Facebook, cnn.com, Twitter, and Gmail). Can you imagine a time when people had to wait until the next morning to find out any results? In a few elections, we'll be saying the same thing about not being able to hear people's comments and expressions live through social media.

When will the next big brand put together a great social media campaign?

How about the social media campaign the Obama election team put together?

They've revolutionized campaigning. One of the first thing's Obama did was hire a designer from Facebook to do his Web site.

It provided them with a constant source of fundraising. Without all that money, no way would Obama have been able to organize and advertise so effectively in all 50 states.

My question is, who runs the next great social media campaign that immediately results in a cash transaction?

Compare the amount of facebook and Myspace friends to the other candidates. Look at that versus the amount of young people who voted for Obama.

Once all the millennials graduate college and have tons of money to spend, the Internet will be the best way to reach them with marketing messages.
